Personal Portraits and Individual Fitness Professional Portraits - Starting at $1500

For clients looking to create images to capture themselves either at the height of their fitness peak or at their stylish best, I am now offering individual portrait sessions. These sessions are geared towards individuals and fitness models looking to create images which will present them in the best light. Both literally and figuratively.

I only do a very limited number of these shoots each year and these are only offered to select clients.  My process is rooting in the exclusive world of advertising and fashion photography.  So, you may find my approach different than other photographer's portrait sessions.  I take a fine art approach to portraits.  My goal is to create a limited series of unique images that tell a story.  I don't believe in making images to make my subjects look like someone else.  Nor do I believe in dramatically altering and image in post or using things like PhotoShop to recompose bodies to look a certain way.  I believe in celebrating what is there.  I believe in using your best attributes and skills to create one-of-a-kind imagery.  

I do not believe in just shooting to create "A" image.  I am only interested in creating "The" image.  So, every shot I take is intensely scrutinized to make sure it lives up to my standard.  The aesthetic approach to each shoot is designed to fit each subject's specific skill set.  Following the shoot, rather than receiving a gallery of options to choose from, you will instead be presented with fifteen highly curated final images which have made it through my rigorous selection process.  I am aware that this might vary from what you are used to.  But, I feel as though the curation of selections is as big a part of providing high quality photography as is the taking of the image.  I only strive to put the best images of you into the world.  And editorial curation is key in that process.

The base package includes photographer's sitting fee, basic retouching and finishing of the final images. Retouching involves cleanup and blemish removal. Body resculpting or compositing not included. 

Shoots take place outdoors or at a client's location within Los Angeles.  Location restrictions may apply based on city requirements.  For clients requiring very specific locations, additional fees may be required for city permitting fees and/or location rental.  In-studio shoots available for an additional fee.  

Additional services such as hair and makeup and styling may require additional fees. 

Most shoots last around 90 minutes.  For more expansive concepts requiring additional time, contact us to provide a customized estimate.

Video services available on a per project basis.  Should you wish to add motion to your package, contact us for a custom quote.

These rates do not apply to businesses looking to promote a product or service and/or influencers looking to promote third party sponsors. Should, for instance, you be sponsored by a company and the company want to use the images to promote their product either in print, online, or social, the company will need to pay a separate usage fee and sign a separate licensing agreement with Christopher Malcolm Incorporated for use of the images.  Usage included in the package detailed above includes usage on an individual's owned social media feed, personal website, or personal modeling portfolio only. Right to resell images or grant license to third party vendors or publications not included. Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I just get all the images?

Simple. We are trying to create art. While many photographers are content to simply get "A" image of the client, Christopher Malcolm Photography is instead only concerned with getting "THE" image. We create custom built photography series that celebrate our subjects and seek to tell a complete story. We are not looking for images that are "good" but disposable. We are looking to create something greater for our clients. We don't just want to snap a couple pictures. We want to engage you in creating a work of art.

Are the images retouched?

Yes. Every image I take is carefully scrutinized before it is allowed into the world. Basic adjustments include fixing blemishes, pimples, lint, and so forth. Retouching does not include body reshaping or feature alteration. If upon receiving your package, you would like additional adjustments, the first round of adjustments are included in the price. Subsequent adjustments costs $100/image.

Why does shooting on location costs more?

Contrary to popular belief, it is not less expensive to just go outside and shoot. The reason for this is because, in Los Angeles, shooting professional photographs outdoors requires shooting permits. These permits can cost a couple hundred dollars or a couple thousand dollars depending on the location. Attempting to shoot without these permits can result in you being ticketed and being required to pay additional financial penalties.

So while we could get away with snapping your photos on an iPhone just about anywhere, since the objective of our shoot is to create professional photographs, a run and gun approach without being able to use lights, reflectors, real cameras, or other items that might give us away as a professional shoot, is probably not the best method for getting you ideal results.

I am an influencer, can I use my images to promote my sponsors?

No. If a company would like to use the images to promote or advertise a product, this would fall into the category of commercial usage. I can provide a custom estimate with a creative and licensing fees for commercial use for such situations.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A $250 deposit is required to confirm your place on the schedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with refund of your deposit is available up until 72 hours prior to your scheduled shoot.

Do you offer basic headshot services?

Yes. A basic headshot package includes head and shoulder portraits shot out-of-studio in natural light for $399. This includes a one hour session. An online proof gallery. And basic retouching and high resolution delivery of three images of your choice. Will you resell my images?

No.

Do you offer refunds?

For technical equipment failure only. As with any art form, photography is subjective. While I do my best to please my clients, I do not offer refunds on aesthetic grounds. However, while on set, you are welcome to review our progress and I will do my best to adjust accordingly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You can pay your balance by cash, check, or credit card via PayPal (note: an additional surcharge of 3% is applied to all credit card payments).

Do I own the copyright to my images?

No. The session fee allows you to use the imagery created for posting on social media, printing for your portfolio, or your personal website. It does not include the right to resell or use to advertise a product or service. If such usage is needed, we can prepare a detailed quote based on your needs. Copyright is retained by the photographer unless otherwise arranged.

Can we get group portraits?

Yes. We do provide sessions for multiple subjects. There is a $750 fee for each additional subject. Note that the shoot must still take place within the same time frame and the number of delivered images remains the same.
